On stopping a landfill project in Lăpușel, Romania

The petitioner opposes the construction of a landfill near the village of Lăpușel, Romania, arguing that it would pollute the environment and endanger the health of the local residents. She claims that a significant investment was made in a landfill project in the nearby village of Sârbi, Fărcașa commune, and suggests that the region would be better served if this latter project were finished, instead of starting a new one near her village. The petitioner also points out that the Lăpușel landfill project had been previously stopped after opposition by the local population, but that it was intentionally re-started during the COVID-19 lockdown, when people could not protest against it.
