The petitioner criticises the EU’s policy towards Taiwan and China. In the EU and Member States, such as Germany, the one-China policy is still pursued, despite the constant violation of human rights and thousands of executions in the People’s Republic. In contrast to this, Taiwan is still not recognised as a state governed by the rule of law, although it meets all the EU’s democratic criteria, with the exception of the death penalty, which is rarely carried out. He therefore calls for full diplomatic relations established with Taiwan, noting that the human rights situation in China needs to be examined critically.
