The petitioner states that his petition is aimed at making a case to the Parliament and the European Commission concerning the need to establish a single, harmonised regulatory framework for alternative, traditional and supplementary medicine and therapies, either through official regulation or through a European self-regulation system, that respects the rights of consumers and professionals in this very large economic sector, and for all stakeholders to be heard. The petitioner believes it is necessary to have a debate between stakeholders and set up a structure enabling the future harmonisation of the sector in the EU, avoiding compromising situations and favourable treatment by the European institutions that benefits some stakeholders to the detriment of the general interest.
