The petitioner complains about what she defines as systematic discrimination against non-German parents in cross-border disputes over parental responsibility and child custody. The petitioner argues that the German family system, through the child welfare agency (Jugendamt), always awards child custody to the German parent, with the pretence of wanting to protect the best interests of the child. The petitioner refers to her own personal situation, having married in Italy and then moving to Germany with her husband in 2015, the year in which their child was born. The petitioner also states that she was a victim of domestic violence. The petitioner criticises the decision of the German family court that awarded custody of the child to his father, with the result that it was impossible for the mother to breastfeed. The petitioner therefore calls on the European Parliament to intervene.
