On compensation for bodily injury

The petitioner objects to the indicative table that serves as the basis for determining degrees of bodily injury in Belgium, including in cases before a court. According to the petitioner, the compensation scales specified in the indicative table are 65% for women and 35% for men, which, assuming that the degree of injury and disability is the same, has the effect of discriminating against men in relation to women. He has approached the Belgian Federal Ministry of Justice in that connection, but to date has received no reply. He is calling for the necessary steps to be taken in order to remove this form of gender-specific discrimination from the indicative table.
