The petitioner claims that following the implementation of the Revised Payment Services Directive, almost every bank has developed its own online banking application and there are very different hardware requirements for the necessary devices. He points out that not all banks rely on safe and inexpensive schemes such as Chip-TAN. Therefore, bank customers often use online banking applications on old Android devices. In his opinion, if banks decided to rely on schemes such as Chip-TAN, consumers would have an easier choice between different banks and would at the same time benefit from a high level of security.
