On behalf of the not-for-profit organisation Still I Rise, on alleged abuses against unaccompanied minors and their living conditions in the Samos refugee camp in Greece

The petitioner denounces the unacceptable abuses against unaccompanied minors and the violations of their human rights by the authorities at the Samos refugee camp in Greece. According to the data provided by the petitioner, 19% of the children living in this refugee camp are not accompanied by a family member or guardian and are hence deprived of adequate protection. He refers in particular to poor food distribution and a lack of proper healthcare and legal and psychological support. He condemns abuses in the reception and identification procedures for minors, malnutrition, poor hygiene conditions and police violence, all of which add up to awful living conditions for minors with serious repercussions for their physical and mental health. The petitioner therefore calls on the EU institutions to put an end to this systematic violation of the human rights of unaccompanied minors.
