On the different kinds of European nitrate measuring systems

The petitioner states that the implementation of the European Fertiliser Regulation means that the transposition of the Nitrates Directive has been delayed by several years. In his opinion, however, there are problems with the measurement results across the EU, as the measuring stations in the Member States do not measure using the same standards and thus cannot easily be compared with each other. This also causes competition problems in European agriculture. The petitioner asks how the EU will guarantee the comparability of measuring stations across the Member States, whether there is an awareness of the differences between the measuring systems in the EU and whether an EU regulation on measuring stations might lead to comparable results.
