The petitioner-in view of future emergencies that may arise- asks the European Parliament to establish emergency laws, which would allow the European Commission to act swiftly during an emergency with or without the agreement of the Council, as the petitioner claims that the current crisis has shown the EU lacks the authority to deal with this crisis effectively. He further adds that such new emergency laws should be limited to the duration of the emergency, allowing the Commission to set up and coordinate emergency procedures across the European Union. Those should serve, for example, to control the flow of food supply across the EU, provide emergency funding for procurement and distribution of medical equipment and EU wide media broadcasting with regular updates on the crisis. He further suggests that the European Parliament sets up an inquiry on the reactivity of the EU to protect EU citizens at an early stage of the coronavirus outbreak.
