On behalf of association Iniciative 300 Italia, on the recognition of professional qualifications in Slovenia

The petitioner describes the situation of Italian students who have studied physiotherapy in Italian language and cannot obtain a professional qualification in Slovenia anymore because the legislation changed during their studies. Now there is a provision requiring the submission of a certificate of knowledge of the Slovenian language on level B2 before passing the professional test. The petitioner states that according to the Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications 36/2005/EC – Article 53 (3), the knowledge of a language can only be required once a professional qualification has been recognised in another country.
