On the right to be educated in one’s mother tongue

The petitioner complains that his right to be educated in his mother tongue during the stages of early childhood education is being systematically infringed in Catalonia’s education system without the education authorities taking any steps to prevent this. This infringement takes place in a way that is degrading for children and their families. Discriminatory terms are often used, sometimes even hate speech, and this extends in many cases into the official media, which is funded with public money. This can be seen, according to the petitioner, on Catalan television channels and in particular on TV3. The petition calls for an investigation of the facts set out, as according to the petitioner this is not possible through the bodies of the autonomous school inspection system as they will not take action on his behalf.
