The petitioner condemns the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, in violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter, forcibly displacing some 200.000 Greek Cypriots, who lost their property and homes. His family’s main source of income came from farming and they owned several agricultural parcels. After the Turkish invasion and up to the present day, settlers from Turkey have been illegally exploiting their parcel and are enjoying the income from production. As a result, he, and the other refugees, suffered and are still suffering huge losses of income. He calls on the European Parliament's Committee on Petitions to examine ways by which Turkey will be obliged to compensate him and the other refugees for such loss of income.
