The petitioner states that Deutsche Post concludes so-called on-call contracts, i.e. temporary employment contracts for 24 hours at a time. The undertaking justifies these consecutive short-term employment contracts by stating that they are used to replace staff on maternity leave. The petitioner further argues that this leads to circumvention of health and safety legislation and compels other providers, such as Amazon, to behave in the same way.
