On an alleged case of poor management by the Commission of an infringement procedure against Italy

The petitioner alleges poor management by the Commission of an infringement procedure against Italy (NIF 2014/4231) concerning fixed-term contracts in the public administration. He refers to two complaints made to the European Ombudsman concerning poor management by the Commission. The petitioner criticises the way in which the Commission has monitored the situation to ensure Italy’s compliance with European legislation. The petitioner refers to the European Parliament resolution of 31 May 2018 on “Responding to petitions on tackling precariousness and the abusive use of fixed-term contracts”. The petitioner calls on the Parliament to set up urgently a Committee of Inquiry, pursuant to Article 226 TFEU, on the functioning of the European Commission.
