Overall group sales were HK$101.9 million last year, down 11.2% from 2022. Costs for the reporting period fell 16.8% year-on-year to HK$85.1 million, the Hong Kong-listed company filed on Wednesday.

Suseth Universe is a joint venture partner with casino concessionaire SJM Holdings Ltd. at Ponte 16, a property in the inner harbour area of Macau. The gaming venue is considered the "satellite" casino of SJM Holdings.

The Sussex Universe company said its group-sharing profit for officials involved in Ponte 16 was HK$143.7 million in 2023, a significant improvement from a loss of about HK$42.1 million a year earlier.

The company also posted a fair value profit of about HK$95.4 million on the group's overseas listed stock securities last year, with a fair value loss of HK$174.1 million in 2022.

SUSCE Universe said Ponte 16 posted adjusted earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of HK$334.1 million in 2023. That compares with a negative reading of HK$46.2 million a year earlier.

The company did not recommend paying the final dividend. It made a corresponding recommendation a year ago.

In February, Hofman Mahoman, the vice president of successful space, said a plan to expand the Ponte 16 complex was submitted to the Macau government and approved.

At a press conference in Hong Kong, Ma said the extension to Ponte 16 was likely to include an investment of "HK$500 million to HK$600 million." The extension project, which the company calls "Phase 3," will include a shopping mall and outdoor "plaza" that Ma mentioned to GGRAsia last year.
