Petition addressed to: European Parliament Committee on Petitions

Determine META to add a function to disable AI training in WhatsApp accounts for children.

At the moment disabling AI training function is not possible. A lot of our children, under 13 years old, use WhatsApp to communicate with each other. Meta is abusing their innocence and uses their accounts as well for Meta AI training. All i am asking is Meta do add a function to disable AI training / availability function on WhatsApp.

Please sign if you agree, this petition will arrive eventually at EU Commission.

Reason

At the moment WhatsApp does not allow to disable AI training/services on any account, even if usage of AI is optional. But children don't understand implications of AI usage or they don't know how to use AI properly and this may interfere with their mental development and education process.

Thank you so much for your support, Adrian Licareti, Gemert

News

Children cannot give informed consent to interacting with AI systems that may collect their data, shape their thinking, or create emotional dependency. Allowing unrestricted access to such chatbots exposes minors to risks (inappropriate content, manipulation, privacy violations) without their parents’ knowledge or control. Therefore, it is necessary to demand clear restrictions — such as disabling AI chatbots on children’s accounts — to ensure their digital safety and well-being.
