Petition addressed to: European Parliament Petitions Committee
People living with digestive conditions such as IBS, bloating, reflux, cramps, food sensitivities, stress-sensitive digestion, and other chronic gastrointestinal issues often experience more than physical discomfort.
Many gradually become socially isolated and anxious about eating in public spaces due to:
• uncertainty about food ingredients,
• fear of symptoms,
• lack of suitable options,
• embarrassment,
• and the absence of supportive hospitality practices.
While allergen information has become increasingly standardized and legally recognized in many countries, people with non-allergic digestive sensitivities still face significant barriers when dining outside their homes.
We believe that restaurants, cafés, bars, and hospitality providers can become more inclusive through simple, realistic, and non-medical supportive measures.
Reason
We respectfully call for:
• clearer digestive-related food information on menus where possible,
• optional “lighter” or digestion-conscious menu sections,
• transparent preparation methods,
• indication of heavy, spicy, highly greasy, or gas-producing foods,
• availability of smaller or flexible portions,
• staff awareness regarding digestive-sensitive customers,
• hydration-friendly and calming beverage options,
• and hospitality guidelines that reduce stress and uncertainty around dining.

I'm intolerant to onions and the whole onions family (garlic, leeks etc.. ). Currently it's an horror to get actual info on ALL the ingredients in a dish. It needs to be better.
