The petitioner alleges that the use of mortality tables by insurance companies in France (members of the Federation of Insurance Companies, accounting for 99% of the market) leads to inequality between the sexes. He states that men’s annuity levels are reduced by 13% whereas women are doubly disadvantaged because of reductions to their own annuities and those of their husbands.
