Petition addressed to: Petitionsausschuss des Europäischen Parlaments

The petitioner complains of an alleged breach of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union by Italy. The petitioner refers to Italy’s laws on recovery of debts, seizure of property and respect for private life. According to the petitioner, the methods used under Italian law to sell distrained property undermine the debtor’s dignity and his or her privacy. The petitioner refers to his own personal experience and the methods used to publicise the sale at auction of the only property he owned. The petitioner calls on Parliament, therefore, to take action so that the changes needed to Italian laws on foreclosure are made, to give debtors appropriate protection.
