Son Heung-min's gesture for a child during South Korea's World Cup qualifier against Singapore has garnered attention.
South Korea hosted Singapore at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Nov. 16 in the first match of Group C of the 2026 North American Football Confederation (NAFTA) World Cup Second Qualifying Round in Asia. The game was played in chilly conditions, with rain falling before the match, and Son Heung-min made sure to take care of the kids who were escorted onto the field with him. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around the child standing in front of him as he shivered in the cold.

On the 18th, Spanish media outlet TUDN reported, 'Son Heung-min performed a beautiful gesture with a child before the match against Singapore. Tottenham's captain and South Korean star Son Heung-min made a noble and beautiful gesture before the game," and said, "Son Heung-min saw a child in front of him shivering in the cold and took off his training jacket to give him a hand.
South Korea went on to win 5-0 in Singapore, with Son Heung-min leading the way. Goals from Cho Kyu-sung, Hwang Hee-chan, Son Heung-min, Hwang Eui-jo, and Lee Kang-in got South Korea off to a strong start in their North American World Cup qualifying campaign.
After the game, Son Heung-min said, "It wasn't an easy game regardless of the result. The players' dedication and hard work paid off. It was a good training match. The first step is the most important, and I think we need to forget about this and prepare for the next one."
Son Heung-min, who scored against Singapore with a threatening left-footed strike from the Son Heung-min zone, said, "I've practiced a 토토 lot and I'm always confident in that position. It may be a habit, but I was confident because I had trained so much, and today, when I saw the trajectory and speed, I felt good and thought it would go in."
In the second half of the Singapore match, Son Heung-min went down with ankle pain after being brought down by a rough foul from an opponent. "I don't like to lie on the field for a long time, but I felt a little numb. I'm fine now. All the players have a little bit of injury. Being called up to play for the national team is something I've dreamed of since childhood, and the World Cup is a process, so I can't give up just because I'm sick. If I'm able to play, I'll do my best to play," he said.
South Korea will face China on Nov. 21 in the second round of the North American World Cup second qualifying round, following a convincing win over Singapore.
