On the alleged violation by Greece of Directive 83/182/EEC with regard to pleasure boats

The petitioner considers that Greek entry rules and taxes on pleasure boats violate Directive 83/182/EEC on tax exemptions within the Community for certain means of transport temporarily imported into one Member State from another. In addition to the payment of certain charges which do not exist in the same way for road vehicles, there is a requirement for extensive registration. The petitioner cannot see any objective reason for the two cases being treated differently. He calls for the existing Greek provisions to be lifted and the sums unduly received by the Greek Government to be repaid.
