On an EU Regulation on EU-wide postage

The petitioner requests that postage within the Union be regulated in such a manner that postal charges are calculated based on distance, rather than the crossing of borders. The petitioner provides the example of packages, which can sometimes be far more expensive to send by post to a nearby city in a neighbouring EU Member State, than to a more distant destination within the same state. The petitioner calls upon the Union institutions to pass legislation that ensures postage is levied in a more harmonised manner, comparable to the legal framework applicable to the telecommunications market and the associated abolition of roaming fees.
