Projectidea: Tracking system for Canoe polo

at 20 Nov 2016 15:47

Canoe polo (Kayak polo) is one of the competitive disciplines of canoeing:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canoe_polo

Philipp Gühring a maker and developer is looking since 6 years for a tracking system
to analyze the games:

A tracking system would need cameras, local memory, accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS, Wifi and realtime clocks. All this is in a smartphone.
The tracking devices will be on the helmets, in the ball and in the goals.
Also there will be devices mounted on flying helicopters.
The copter.rocks project is already pretty advanced:

One container (>= 1000) of Galaxy Note 7 devices, with or without the batteries would help to realize this project !

New title: Samsung: Recycling Upcycling instead of destroying

New petition text: THE PROBLEM
Following
PROBLEM:

Early September,
worldwide reports of fires caused by battery failures and fires with in the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone in early September SAMSUNG totally stopped led Samsung to completely cease production. The company recalled every single phone. The refurbishment of every recalled phone may be near impossible, yet the production and recalled ALL phones. Of course refurbishing the recalled phones would be almost impossible but disposal of these 2,5 million phones with millions of working cpu CPU cores, sensors, cams and so on would be the ultimative worst case scenario.
is unfathomable.

THE CLAIM to SAMSUNG
CLAIM:
Instead of disposal trashing these phones, Samsung should donate the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 them (without the hazardous batteries) to the maker community for upcycling and open innovation !

Neue Begründung: MY PERSONAL STORY, by Leopold
STORY:

As an Open Source evangelist evangelist, I like Android devices and use have used Samsung phones for years because of their commitment to an Open Source OS. I believe that eventually Open Source will prove to recognised as the be the best way to not only to develop software, but also hardware. There is a long way to go, and many proprietory go. Many proprietary elements and practises practices still dominate, but it is becoming evident that proprietary and non-modular solutions are still mainstream. But with the course of things, proprietory inefficient and nonmodular solutions become increasingly inefficient. They also become vulnerable. Take the case of the non - replaceable batteries, these non-replaceable batteries that have caused Samsung a billion Dollar headache and image loss. The dollar headache. This disaster is a big chance an excellent opportunity for a better (modular) better, more modular future !
But there are opportunities and ways to
!

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We can
learn from developments this dangerous disaster and change directions. I as a small outsider do not only want us to save values billions of billions from destruction (because dollars worth of destruction, because the NOTE 7 is too good to throw it away wholesale) , wholesale, but also hope to maybe also initiate the biggest shift in direction that a technology company has ever undertaken. Everybody talks about the makers, makers and creators. Now even Microsoft Microsoft, with its new direction in hardware and software that software, makes Apple with its old emphasis on this target group look pale! But there pale by comparison. There is right now an opportunity for Samsung to take the lead and finally walk the talk.
talk.

Samsung’s
