Petition richtet sich an: Unione Europea (European Union)

total removal of the provision

Begründung

On the surface, it appears to be a watershed revolution—a gleaming shield wielded by the European Union to protect citizens from tech giants. Yet, beneath the facade of this massive bureaucratic edifice, the Digital Markets Act (DMA) reveals a starkly different reality: a complex regulatory machine that threatens to stifle innovation, degrade the user experience, and erode the very foundations of digital security.

The Architecture of Control
The DMA was conceived with the ambition of breaking the dominance of so-called "gatekeepers"—the major tech companies that control the gateways to the digital world. However, the outcome looks more like an attempt to drag the entire tech ecosystem down to the lowest common denominator.

Through a rigid list of mandates and prohibitions, the European Union has placed the full potential of hardware-software integration in a straitjacket. Operating systems and platforms that were once seamless, cohesive, and perfectly synchronized are now being surgically fragmented to make way for third-party solutions that are often disjointed and clunky.

Critical Issues with "Free Competition"
Security Breaches and the Death of Privacy:

  • By mandating the opening of closed ecosystems (sideloading, alternative app stores, chat interoperability), the DMA tears down protective walls painstakingly built over years of development. What the regulation frames as "openness" risks becoming, for the user, an open door to malware, cyber-scams, and unregulated parallel markets where personal data tracking escapes all oversight. A Fragmented and Bureaucratized User Experience:
  • Ease of use—a cornerstone value of the modern digital era—is being sacrificed on the altar of regulation. Navigating, sending messages, or using maps turns into a constant obstacle course of forced selection screens, persistent consent banners, redirection notices, and features that are either stripped down or entirely removed to avoid massive fines.

A Barrier to Innovation and the Exile of New Developments:

  • Instead of encouraging European companies to create better alternatives, regulatory rigidity fosters an atmosphere of legal uncertainty and technological paralysis.
  • The real risk is a "second-rate" Europe, shut out from the timely launch of the latest tech innovations and most advanced Artificial Intelligence models—which are frozen or delayed for fear of violating ambiguously interpreted clauses.

A Bureaucratic Paradox
The Digital Markets Act promised to democratize the market but risks producing the opposite effect: rather than rewarding the merit of technological excellence, it rewards uniformity imposed by law. In the attempt to punish tech giants, it is the end users who pay the highest price, left with less secure tools, less integrated software, and a noticeably sluggish digital landscape.
