On visa-free travel for Ecuadorian nationals

The petitioner is calling for Ecuadorian nationals to be allowed to enter the Schengen Area without a visa. He contends that it is exceptionally hard for citizens of Ecuador to visit Schengen countries because the process of applying for a tourist visa and supplying the requisite documentation is very lengthy. By contrast, he points out, nationals of neighbouring Peru and Columbia can spend up to 90 days in the Schengen Area without a visa. He regards this unequal treatment as an impediment to cultural exchange.
