On abolishing 22% VAT on diapers and sanitary products

The petitioner is concerned that towels and diapers have been imposed the highest-end VAT, i.e. 22%, as if it were luxury goods. She also points out that other products, such as razors and truffles, which are considered essential goods, have 5% VAT. This could potentially create discrimination against women, the elderly, children, disabled persons and people who are less well off. Therefore, the petitioner asks for the European Union to request Italy to abolish or lower VAT on these products.
