On the situation of migrants in Greece and along the Balkans route

The petitioner, who addressed his petition to the Commissioner on Home Affairs, considers that the European Union should intervene to resolve the dramatic situation being endured by migrants and asylum seekers, especially in Greece and along the Balkans route. The petitioner protests that it is not acceptable for the EU to allow human rights to be breached and children to be abused within its borders without immediately taking effective measures to improve the situation. The petitioner calls for all police action on the Member States’ borders to be strictly controlled, condemning any illegal action by them, and for decent living conditions to be guaranteed for everyone who is obliged to live in the migrant detention centres and settlements.
