Der Bahnhof Innsbruck steht mitten in der Stadt. Trotzdem tut er so, als wäre auf seiner östliches Seite nur ein Nebeneingang. Zudem weigert sich dei ÖBB beständig an seinem bisherigen östlichen "Nebeneingang" einen Fahrkartenautomaten auzzustellen. Was Salzburg, Linz, Wels oder Brixlegg schaffen, sollte auch in Innsbruck möglich sein.

Durch die Unterführung wird der Fußweg von Pradl zum Bahnhof und zum Stadtzentrum bzw. umgekehrt halbiert. Das bedeutet für Fußgänger (Annahme tgl. Weg hin und retour) eine Zeitersparnis von 10 Minuten täglich.

Es ist vor allem auch eine Aufgabe der ÖBB die gewaltige Trennwirkung des Haupt- und Frachtenbahnhofs und der BBT-Gleisanlagen in der Stadtmitte zu reduzieren sowie einen zeitgemäßen Bahnhofszugang von Osten zu ermöglichen. Primär steht die ÖBB in der Verantwortung.
