Some pesticides are carcinogenic, hormone-disrupting or impair fertility. Others are harmful to aquatic organisms, bees and pollinators or hardly break down in nature.
That is why the European Union decided to ban the use of these toxic pesticides. Yet they are still produced in Europe, and Belgium, for export, including to African countries.
Africans and Europeans are together calling for a ban on these toxic exports. Because what is toxic in Europe is also toxic elsewhere. We do not want a double standard on human health and the environment!
🙅🏾♂️ The export of pesticides, which can no longer be used in Europe because they are too harmful, should be banned immediately.
🪱 Attention to healthy soil, encouraging biodiversity and applying natural pest control should be at the heart of agricultural policy.
🧑🏽🌾 Farmers should be supported in switching to sustainable agricultural practices and natural pest control.
🏭 Furthermore, European companies should be reminded of their responsibility to ensure the safety of their products, including abroad.
Odůvodnění
Scientific studies in Burkina Faso and Uganda, among others, show that residues of toxic pesticides can be found in water, agricultural soil and on vegetables in the market.
The harmfulness of these pesticides has been proven.
Moreover, there are a lot of alternatives that make the harmful pesticides unnecessary.

Certain Herb- and Pesticides are banned for use on European Crops due to severe risk on human and animal health, but get exported to African Countries anyway. These countries export the produce back to the EU and the poison ends up on our plates anyway. It is a clear example of the hypocrisy of some of the EU legislation that affects all Europeans. There are plenty of alternatives to the most devastating pesticides that are exported currently. SIGN NOW!
I understand their intention. Moreover, the same plants produced in Africa can be imported to Europe and will be eating our carcinogens. My concern is that if the production or expert is banned, it's a half measure: those people will be bought from countries less prone to public opinion, be in China , North Korea , Russia or Iran. That will give them advantage. Solution will be in legislation of African countries themselves. They have to ban import and use of those pesticides.

I want to be counted among those against the use of pesticides, which are so toxic to the environment. Pesticides eventually end up in the body system after consuming foods sprayed with pesticides. They lower human lifespan through diseases and eventual death
