I understand their intention. Moreover, the same plants produced in Africa can be imported to Europe and will be eating our carcinogens. My concern is that if the production or expert is banned, it's a half measure: those people will be bought from countries less prone to public opinion, be in China , North Korea , Russia or Iran. That will give them advantage. Solution will be in legislation of African countries themselves. They have to ban import and use of those pesticides.

It would help if the petition was more specific. Which toxic pesticides are we talking about? What evidence supports this? Is this based on Greenpeace claims or serious scientific data sources? We also have to think about the fact that stopping poorer countries from using these pesticides might mean lower harvests and more starvation. Why don't we just leave it to those countries to decide? Because we know better (eco-leftist neo-colonialism)?

Low yields mean hunger, and hunger kills. People demanding these "natural" standards do not know anything about agriculture and they havent experienced hunger. I support the ban on pesticides that do not meet the same safety standards as in the EU (which are very high). Poor African countries struggle to feed their population and to restrict the (few) tools they have to cost effectively sustain their food supply chains is EVIL and IGNORANT.

Are people importing those pesticides not aware of them being banned in Europe? Why do we need to ban the exports. They can just choose not to buy them. I think they are smart enough to take their own decisions. They probably weighted the pros and cons and decided they still need them.
