The petitioner urges the European Parliament to work towards the adoption of the European Code of Good Administrative Behaviour or the adoption of standards of good administration in the form of a Union directive or regulation. The current European Code of Good Administrative Behaviour was adopted by the European Parliament on 6 September 2001 by resolution. According to the petitioner, only an amendment of the Code of Good Administrative Behaviour will make the application of good administrative practice in Member States mandatory, and the petitioner considers that the Code should be updated by adapting it to the digitalisation of public administration and the provision of online services.
