On behalf of Uniunea Sindicatelor din Învățământul Preuniversitar Iași, on the right to strike in Romania

The petitioner complains that workers do not have the right to trigger a collective labour dispute or to strike during the validity period of a collective labour agreement. He argues that this is in breach of European legislation, in particular the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, especially if the labour dispute concerns areas that are not covered by the collective agreement. The petitioner asks for the harmonisation of Romanian legislation with EU and international standards in that respect.
