On behalf of AGADEN (Asociación gaditana para la Defensa y Estudio de la Naturaleza), on discharges of untreated effluent in the SCI ‘Estrecho Oriental’

The petitioner denounces the discharge of effluent in Gibraltar, in the area known as Europa pointdesignated as an SCI (Estrecho Oriental ES6120032). According to the petitioner, these discharges occur daily and are seriously polluting this marine SCI. Gibraltar has illegally been discharging untreated sewage for 21 years. The petitioner complains that, although, on 4 May 2017, the Court of Justice of the European Union began an infringement procedure due to the failure to treat urban waste water in Gibraltar, that country is still in breach of Directive 91/271/EEC.
