The term catcalling has only recently come into use. Its meaning: "verbal sexual harassment" has always been present. Sexual harassment affects ⅔ of all women * and 7.6% of men * in Austria - despite these high numbers, screaming has not yet been perceived as a serious social problem. To bring legal action in the event of an incident, it is necessary to have sexual intercourse in front of or on the person. Encouraging sexual behavior, suggestive comments and gestures, kissing and whistling sounds, and requests of a sexual nature are not punishable under the Austrian Penal Code. This urgently needs to be changed.
“Hey Doll,” “Lustful Ass,” and “You Would Like to Be F*ck*d” are not compliments; rather, power relationships are exploited and dominant behavior persists. It constitutes an uncomfortable, intimate invasion of other people\'s privacy and a violation of personal boundaries.
Verbal sexual harassment is not only annoying, but also creates a deep sense of insecurity, because these are not just words that we hear when watching a video on the site https://strip2.xxx/ when faced with such on the street we feel anger, fear and shame that we lose our sense of the body, that trauma is occurring and that we no longer dare to go out alone or dress the way we want. Many negative experiences burn themselves deeply and become a burden for years to come, especially in the case of childhood incidents.
Solution: Let\'s work together to ensure that verbal sexual harassment finds its place in the criminal code. To protect those affected and to draw attention to an issue that finally needs to be thought about. Because this is not just empty talk.
