Petição dirigida a: Heinz Christian Strache

Austria's former vice chancellor and far-right party leader Heinz-Christian Strache has won a seat in the European Parliament despite being forced to resign over a corruption scandal. Strache was filmed offering government contracts to a woman claiming to be the niece of a Russian oligarch in exchange for electoral support.

It is thus unacceptable that Strache becomes a member of the European Parliament.

This petition shall encourage all European citizens to make a commitment to uphold ethical values and integrity in European politics.

Razões

The European Parliament establishes the democratic legitimacy of the European Union. Heinz-Christian Strache has shown that he is lacking the integrity to be part of such an essential institution.

A democracy is only as strong as the voices in it. We European citizens are therefore called upon to raise our voices and make clear, that a person like Strache does not represent our European democracy and is unwilling and unable to contribute to a better future for our European Union.
