On the summertime arrangements proposal 

The petitioner supports ’standard time’ applicable throughout the EU and gives several reasons for this. The petitioner believes permanent summertime would be a strain on the human body. This would, for example, affect the quality of sleep. EU legislators should consider medical studies in the decision on abolishing biannual time changes. The petitioner also links the debate on changing the clocks to the discussion on a possible reduction of the working day. If standard time were applicable, with a shorter working day, people would benefit as much from the longer hours of daylight as they would from the currently applicable summertime.
