On the situation of municipal waste collection and treatment in the region of Kalamata, Greece

The petitioner forwards an article published in a blog which alleges that the illegal Maratholakka landfill site in Kalamata (reportedly only 617 meters from the river Nedon) continues to be used by the Mayor and poses an immediate health hazard to the region´s inhabitants, despite claims by the Regional Governor that the landfill has been restored. The petitioner also denounces that millions of Euros have been wasted without any result on the integrated waste management project launched in 2011.
