The petitioner is of the view that in order to reduce consumption of resources, the EU should consider the reuse (rather than recycling) of IT/electronic waste. To ensure that certain electronic components, including SSD Hard drives and USB/SD cards, are safe for reuse, there should be a system to securely erase and then certify them for re-use.
