On the legitimacy of the appointment of Martin Selmayr as Secretary-General of the Commission

The petitioner denounces the legitimacy of the procedure for the appointment of Martin Selmayr as Secretary-General of the European Commission. According to the petitioner, on 21 February 2018, the President of the European Commission, without first informing his fellow Commissioners, and acting without transparency, appointed his closest aide Secretary-General. The petitioner does not consider this course of events to be sufficiently clear, and therefore calls on the European Parliament to intervene to ensure the necessary transparency.
