On excessive noise levels on the PATHE motorway in Greece

The petitioner denounces the excessive noise pollution levels caused by the motorway PATHE (Patras-Athens-Thessaloniki-Euzonon), affecting the inhabitants of Nea Kifisia, a purely residential district in northern Athens.She alleges that Greece is in breach of EU law by continuing to apply the national noise levels of 60 dB Lnight and 70 dB Lden and that it is not taking any measures to reduce noise pollution. The petitioner argues that half the district lacks even the most basic protection from noise panels, resulting in night noise levels in excess of 59 dB Lnight. The petitioner references EU rules stating, among others, that noise levels above 55dB Lden and 50dB Lnight are high noise levels at which adverse health effects occur frequently.
