The petitioner is seeking the adoption of EU rules requiring manufacturers to indicate tyre tread depth and stipulate a required minimum of 10 mm, whereas the tread depths of tyres currently available online and from dealers vary between 6 and 9 mm. He argues that a greater minimum depth would be beneficial in terms of environmental and consumer protection.
