Petition richtet sich an: Petitionsausschuss des Europäischen Parlaments

The petitioner and his wife are facing problems with the reactivation of their personal identification numbers in Sweden, leading to difficulties accessing healthcare, opening a bank account or even subscribe to an internet or phone connection. The petitioner has been self-employed for 30 years and has lived and worked in several EU countries before (the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Germany). He faces difficulties in restarting his business without a personal identification number, and wrote to the competent Swedish authorities stressing inter alia the relevant provisions of Directive 2004/38. He considers that Sweden has let the issue of personal identification number for EU citizens unresolved for too long, and asks the European Parliament to intervene.
