The led notification light does only flash for pre-installed apps such as phone and text messages. The notification light does not indicate any incoming messages from messenger services such as WhatsApp, Signal or Threema. Same for any new emails from third party apps such as K-9 Mail. This limitation is not obvious when buying the phone.

We would like to indicate to NOKIA that a significant number of customers are unsatisfied and disappointed that the bug has not been fixed yet. For some customers, the existence of the notification light was the actual reason to buy the phone. Depending on the number of supporters, we kindly ask NOKIA to revisit the issue and to fix the bug as soon as possible.

Subscription period active - Nokia 7.2 notification light - we need your support

Thanks so much for supporting the online petition to have the led light of the Nokia 7.2 and 6.2 flash for third party apps. Unfortunately, we only have around 60 supporters so far. We urgently need more people to sign the petition. There is a real chance that Nokia will consider our request if we have around 200 to 300 supporters.
Therefore, please take two minutes and share the link of the petition with your friends or post them on Android or Nokia online discussion panels in your region. Please also use your native language. Not everybody can speak English.
If everyone who has signed up so far will do something supportive, it will be very easy to have even more than 300 supporters. :-)

If you allow third-party application notifications to emit a light signal on this key, then this will be not only a very useful feature, but also a significant competitive advantage of Nokia smartphones.
