Petition addressed to: US Government

"Cloud computing" provides computing resources as a service. It makes it easier for organisations incuding media companies to offer their services to the public.
The current sanctions against Russia should be extended immediately to prohibit public cloud computing services from being made available by US owned companies to Russian state-controlled media and other Russian state-controlled organisations. Because AWS, Google and Microsoft are the largest of these providers, these three companies should in particular be included in these sanctions.

Reason

The Russian government are operating a systematic process of mis-information using state-controlled media to lie about and hide the war crimes they are committing in Ukraine from the Russian population. Preventing such state-controlled media companies and other state-controlled organisations from using cloud computing resources will make it harder for these companies to operate. Making the truth known to Russian citizens will speed the end of the illegal criminal invasion of Ukraine.
These cloud computing sanctions should include provision of all internet related services to such Russian state-controlled organisations. This includes Internet-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, Application-as-a-Service, Data-as-a-Service, Domain Name System (DNS) services, etc.
This petition does not seek to prohibit offering of cloud computing services that enable access to the Internet for Russian citizens. On the contrary this is welcomed to help them learn about the atrocities being committed by the Russian government.
