Given the purposeful, cynical, total destruction of Ukrainian cultural monuments (ancient churches, museums, cultural centers), military action to deprive us of the national treasures of our culture, erase the national identity and freedom of Ukrainians. We ask that Russia be deprived of its membership in the ICOM International Council of Museums, as those who did not oppose this arbitrariness, ignored this tragedy and made no attempt to stop this catastrophe.
Reason
Now, all of us (ordinary people and politicians), each in his place, are trying to stop this evil that encroaches on us (civilians) and our heritage, together with various organizations and institutions (business structures, enterprises, medical, government and private institutions) that unite in this struggle, we (cultural workers) want to join and unite to demand justice in this struggle.
From February 24 to March 7, 2022, the Russian Federation launched rocket attacks on Ukraine and carried out an armed offensive in five regions of Ukraine, crossing its own borders and the borders of Belarus.
Russia's armed offensive in Ukraine is destroying numerous civilian and cultural heritage sites.
Here are some of them: in the village of Ivankiv, Kyiv region, the local history museum burned down, where about two and a half dozen works by the world-famous artist Maria Prymachenko were kept, in the village of Vyazivka, Zhytomyr region, the Church (Intercession) of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin was destroyed, built in 1862 architecture of national importance, security № 108) https://www.facebook.com/groups/935872303114010/permalink/5358695740831622/, in the town of Trostyanets in the Sumy region, the occupiers looted an art gallery and a museum of local lore; in Sedniv (near Chernihiv), the occupiers used an architectural object as a military headquarters, the mansion of the Lyzohub family (17th century).
Many historical and architectural monuments and archeological monuments of Ukraine are threatened by heavy artillery shelling and destruction.
Given the above facts, we call for the exclusion of the Russian Federation from the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
