Pétition adressée à : The European Parliament and the European Commission

The European Union is preparing legislation that would make ID verification mandatory for using websites, games, social media, and online services.

This means:

• You may need to upload your passport or government ID to access basic platforms.
• VPNs could be restricted, banned, or forced to register with authorities.
• Everyone, including adults, would be tracked and identified — even when just commenting online.

These laws are presented as “child protection” — but in truth, they open the door to mass surveillance, loss of anonymity, and exclusion of millions.

❌ Undocumented people
❌ LGBTQ+ teens without safe households
❌ Whistleblowers and activists
❌ Refugees, privacy advocates, and low-income families

✊ We Demand:
1. No mandatory ID or age verification to access general online platforms
2. No bans or restrictions on personal VPN use
3. Anonymity and privacy must remain fundamental digital rights
4. Safer online spaces should be built with education and platform responsibility, not surveillance

The internet must remain free, open, and private — not a permission-based ID system controlled by governments or corporations.

We call on the European Parliament and Commission to protect our digital freedom.

Raison

The right to privacy is a cornerstone of democracy.
Yet the European Union is preparing laws that would force every citizen — adult or child — to upload government ID just to access everyday parts of the internet.

This petition is important because it’s not just about child protection. It’s about what kind of internet we want to live in.

Do we want an internet where:

• You need a passport to comment on a forum?
• VPNs are banned or controlled?
• Anonymity is treated as a crime?

Or do we want an internet that protects freedom of expression, especially for vulnerable groups like LGBTQ+ teens, refugees, whistleblowers, and journalists?

These laws won’t stop crime — but they will silence millions of innocent people.

This petition gives us — the citizens — a voice before it’s too late.

The internet must remain a place of freedom, privacy, and access for all.
Let’s stop this before it becomes irreversible.

Merci infiniment pour votre soutien, Maximilian Marek, Erkelenz

Pourquoi les gens signent

Privacy is an essential part of internet experience. World Wide Web is kinda like a worl wide country without a government. That anarchy is beautiful and freeing, connecting billions of people and giving full freedom of both speech and expression. Any attempt at enforcing any laws against that freedom or restrictions in general goes totally against the ideas and benefits of internet and its users. That strict age restriction already is a big problem and prohibition of ways to circumvent that restriction would bring only suffering for millions of people. Furthermore, denying access to the internet for any person without blatantly sharing their private dada is sickening and laws opting for that should never exist even as thoughts in the minds of politicians and people of power in general

Privacy is important

This petition is important because my privacy is important, I want to be able to use the internet freely and without worrying that I'm being spied on

I think the child protection is just a fake reason.
This will not protect children. It will lead to the use of VPN. Is forbidding them the next step then?
Do the EU want to become like China, Russia and North Korea?
Child protection should start with education and parenting. Not with restriction of many adult users of the Internet.
To be honest... How does forbidding porn sites protect children from cyber grooming? Which happens on social media like instagram, snapchat etc?
This is not about "child protection" it is a made up reason so the mass is listening...
