On switching off rebroadcasting transmitters used for terrestrial TV signals

The petitioner is of the view that the transmission of TV signals over the airwaves is superfluous and harmful to the environment and health. According to him, if TV rebroadcasting transmitters in Europe, with their relevant installations, which can connect to the former via radio bridges, were to be switched off, this would be of great benefit in terms of energy savings, less pollution from electromagnetic fields, and environmental and health protection. The petitioner therefore calls for action to strengthen the enforcement of Directive 2014/61/EU on measures to reduce the cost of deploying high-speed electronic communications networks and of Directive 2013/35/EU on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (electromagnetic fields).
