The petitioner calls for a resolution of the European Parliament on a European solution for border cities in Europe. She pleads to defrost the border lock down in European border cities as citizens usually have interests, shop, visit doctors at both sides, resulting in their markets relying on cross border rather than on domestic demand. With families separated, grandparents cannot rely on help of their children, living a few minutes further, across the border. The petitioner highlights that while Member States envisage exiting restrictions, border cities will remain without a similar solution. She suggests for the inhabitants of border cities to be allowed to cross the border, following the rules valid in each country concerned. She suggests for these particular cases, to defreeze the lock of the border and promote diplomatic measures that would reach for suitable solutions.
