Dear supporters of the petition to ban Russia from SWIFT,
ich bin überwältigt von Eurer Reaktion und danke Euch aus vollem Herzen. Zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt haben über 166.000 Menschen die Petition unterzeichnet, aus vielen verschiedenen Ländern. Helfer haben die Petition in acht Sprachen übersetzt.
I am overwhelmed by your reaction and thank you from the bottom of my heart. As of this writing, over 166,000 people have signed the petition, from many different countries. Volunteers translated the petition into eight languages.
Ich möchte die Gelegenheit nutzen, um Euch zu bitten, nicht nachzulassen und weiter für diese Petition zu werben. Und ich möchte ein paar Fragen beantworten, die einige von Euch mir zugesandt haben. Ich versuche, bewusst einfach zu schreiben, um den unterschiedlichen Hintergründen von Euch gerecht zu werden.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to keep up and keep promoting this petition. And I want to answer a few questions that some of you have sent me. I try to keep my writing simple to do justice to the different backgrounds of you.
WER BIN ICH?
Ich bin Fachinformatiker und lebe mit meiner Familie im Südwesten Deutschlands. Ich bin einfaches Parteimitglied von Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen (die Partei der deutschen Außenministerin), war allerdings seit vielen Jahren nicht politisch aktiv.
WHO AM I?
I work as an IT specialist and I live with my family in south-west Germany. I'm a simple party member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen (the party of the German Foreign Minister), but haven't been politically active for many years.
BIST DU AGENT ODER SOLDAT? WARUM HAST DU DIE PETITION GESTARTET?
Nein, ich arbeite für keine Regierung und habe das nicht getan. Ich habe die Petition aus eigenem Antrieb, als Reaktion auf den furchtbaren Angriff des russischen Militärs auf die Ukraine, und die völlig unzureichende Reaktion der westlichen Länder erstellt.
ARE YOU AN AGENT OR A SOLDIER? WHY DID YOU START THE PETITION?
No, I do not work for any government and have never done so. I created the petition of my own accord, in response to the horrific attack by the Russian military on Ukraine and the utterly inadequate response of Western countries.
WANN UND AN WEN WIRD DIE PETITION GESANDT?
Nachdem diese Petition so unglaublich viele Unterzeichner erhalten hat, werde ich Anfang nächster Woche den Bundeskanzler als Chef der deutsche Bundesregierung, die Außenministerin und den Finanzminister anschreiben. Ich werde einer Antwort bestehen. Diese drei Ministerien repräsentieren die drei Parteien, die zur Zeit die deutsche Bundesregierung stellen. Ich werde hier über Antworten berichten.
WHEN AND TO WHOM WILL THE PETITION BE SENT?
After this petition has received so incredibly many signatories, I will write to the Chancellor as head of the German Federal Government, the Foreign Minister and the Minister of Finance on Monday next week. I will insist on an answer. These three ministries represent the three parties that currently make up the German government. I will report answers here.
WARUM WIRD DAS ZIEL DER ZU SAMMELNDEN UNTERSCHRIFTEN STÄNDIG ERHÖHT?

WARUM SCHREIBST DU NICHTS ÜBER DIE GASIMPORTE?
Ich wollte mich bewusst auf ein Thema begrenzen, und hieraus eine konkrete Forderung zu stellen.
WHY DON'T YOU WRITE ABOUT GAS IMPORTS?
I deliberately wanted to limit myself to one topic and to make a concrete demand from it.
WARUM WAR AM ANFANG DEIN NAME NICHT ZU LESEN?
Ich habe die Petition zunächst anonym veröffentlicht. Dann habe ich mich aber entschlossen, meinen vollen Namen darunter zu setzen. Putins System basiert auf Angst. Wir dürfen vor ihm keine Angst habe. Wir zeigen ihm unser Gesicht.
WHY WAS NOT YOUR NAME READABLE AT THE BEGINNING?
I initially published the petition anonymously. But then I decided to put my full name under it. Putin's system is based on fear. We mustn't be afraid of him. We show him our face.
Haltet durch in dieser schweren Zeit! Ich wünsche Euch alles Gute! Vor allem den Unterzeichnern aus der Ukraine und aus Russland wünsche ich eine schnelle Zukunft in Frieden, Freiheit, Gerechtigkeit und Wahrheit!
