The Texas Rangers avoided salary adjustments with starting right fielder Adolis Garcia.
The Dallas Morning News reported on the 9th (Korea time) that the two sides agreed to a two-year contract worth 14 million dollars (18.662 billion won).
It is a contract that can receive up to $20.5 million depending on the conditions. Detailed procedures, including physical examinations, are still being finalized.
Garcia, who has three years and 95 days of service as of January 2024, has confirmed his salary through next season with the deal.
Earlier, the two sides had a disagreement over the salary, and they were about to adjust the salary.
While the player wanted an annual salary of $6.9 million, the Rangers offered $5 million.
"I'm a little disappointed," he said at a recent meeting with local media at the club's fan festival event, expressing his disappointment with the club.
And on the same day that the Pay Adjustment Committee was scheduled to meet, it dramatically agreed to a multi-year contract.
With this, I was able to join the spring camp with a little less emotional distress.
Garcia batted .245 with a .328 on-base percentage, a .508 slugging percentage, 39 homers and 107 RBIs in 148 games last season.
He was named All-Star and Gold Glove and MVP of the American League Championship Series.
He hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning in Game 1 of the World Series, but left Game 4 due to an oblique muscle injury.
The Dallas Morning News explained that Garcia was much older (30 years) than other first-year salary adjusters, but his age did not play a significant role in the negotiations.
